Hempstead and Wigmore form a solid residential stretch close to Lordswood, made up largely of semi-detached houses from the mid-century build boom that dominates Medway's suburban ring. It's the kind of area that attracts families precisely because the schools are decent, the streets are quiet, and nothing here costs the earth. There's no real centre to speak of, just residential roads and a small local parade serving daily needs. Getting anywhere without a car means using the bus, which limits spontaneous movement but is manageable for everyday life. Hempstead in particular has a slightly more established feel than some nearby areas, with mature trees and gardens giving it a softer edge than the newer parts of Walderslade.
