Maldon North covers the residential streets north of the town centre and has the feel of a comfortable, unpretentious part of town where people raise families without feeling they are making a statement about where they live. There are good primary schools nearby, and the residential streets are a mix of semis and terraces from the mid twentieth century that have been well maintained. The north side puts you close to the open farmland that surrounds the town, so walks into the countryside are genuinely accessible. It does not have a high street of its own but the town centre is close enough to walk to. Property is more affordable here than in the southern part of town near the Hythe, which makes it popular with first-time buyers and families upgrading from flats.
