South Woodford is one of the most popular areas in Redbridge and it is easy to see why. The George Lane high street has independent shops, good restaurants, cafes, and a Waitrose, which tells you something about the demographics. The Central line gets you to Liverpool Street in about 20 minutes. Housing is a mix of Edwardian terraces, 1930s semis, and mansion flats, with some roads commanding serious money. Families move here for the schools, the green space (Epping Forest is walkable from the north end), and the village-ish feel of George Lane. It is probably the closest Redbridge gets to having a Chiswick or Crouch End equivalent, though at lower prices.
