The St Helier estate was one of the big interwar London County Council developments, and it still defines this area. Rows and rows of identical cottage-style houses with front gardens, all on a grid pattern. St Helier station is nearby on the Thameslink line. There's a local shopping parade but most people drive or bus to Sutton or Morden for anything serious. It's affordable by borough standards and has a strong sense of local identity. The housing is solid if not exciting.
