Cathall is dominated by the estate of the same name, which was rebuilt in the 1990s after the original tower blocks came down. The newer housing is mostly low-rise with a mix of social and private. It is close to Leytonstone tube and Whipps Cross, but the area itself does not have much of a centre or local identity beyond the estate.
