Leyton has been riding the post-Olympics wave. The Central line gets you to the City in 20 minutes, the Olympic Park is walkable, and the Victorian terraces are smaller and cheaper than Leytonstone or Walthamstow, which has made it popular with first-time buyers and sharers. The high road has a growing number of independent places mixed in with the usual fried chicken and betting shops. It is still visibly unfinished in parts, and there is a fair amount of through-traffic, but the direction of travel is clear.
