St James Street is the area around the Overground station of the same name, between Walthamstow Central and the Lea Valley. The street itself has a mix of Afro-Caribbean food shops, barbers, and independent businesses that give it a distinct character. Housing is Victorian terraces with some post-war blocks. It is one of the more affordable parts of Walthamstow and it has a strong community feel, particularly around the Caribbean and West African communities who have been here for decades.
