Nine Elms has been transformed by the Battersea Power Station development and the Northern line extension. Glass towers with river views, a lot of them bought as investments and feeling quite empty. The Power Station itself has shops and restaurants, and the new tube stations at Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station have fixed the area's biggest problem, which was accessibility. But outside the shiny new bits, it still has a slightly disconnected feel. The New Covent Garden Market is here, which is interesting but not exactly a neighbourhood amenity. It will take years for it to feel like somewhere people actually live rather than somewhere people bought flats.
