Southfields is known for two things: Wimbledon tennis and the grid of streets south of the station. The Grid, as locals call it, has wide tree-lined roads with Edwardian family houses, many of them still whole houses with gardens. Southfields tube on the District line gets you into central London reasonably quickly. There is a small parade of shops on Replingham Road and Wimbledon Park Road. It is genuinely family-oriented, with good primaries and the park on the doorstep. Two weeks a year the Championships take over, but the rest of the time it is one of the quieter corners of the borough.
