Fitzrovia sits between Tottenham Court Road and Great Portland Street, north of Oxford Street. It has a long bohemian history, from the Fitzroy Tavern crowd in the 1930s onwards, though these days it's more media companies and expensive restaurants. Charlotte Street is the main dining strip. The residential population is small but loyal, split between council tenants and owners of increasingly valuable Georgian townhouses. Goodge Street and Warren Street tubes are both close. The BT Tower looms over everything. It's the sort of area where people are surprised to learn anyone actually lives.
