Wye village has a proper centre with a church, a couple of pubs, a village shop, and a small farmers' market that draws people from the surrounding area. The old Wye College site is being partly redeveloped, which has brought some new housing into the village. The primary school has a good reputation and there's a real community feel, helped by the fact that it's just small enough for people to know each other. The station is a genuine asset, with direct trains to Ashford International in five minutes and London St Pancras via the high-speed service. Housing is a mix of older cottages in the centre and newer builds on the edges, none of it cheap by Kent standards. The Crown Downs walk up to the chalk crown is one of the best short hikes in the county.
