The Gascoigne estate is undergoing one of east London's biggest regeneration projects. The old 1960s tower blocks and low-rises are being demolished in phases and replaced with new homes. It is right next to Barking town centre and station, which is a strong location. For now it is a building site in parts, but the finished blocks are modern and well-designed. If you are buying new-build here, you are betting on the regeneration completing and the area catching up with the new housing. It has potential but you need to be realistic about what surrounds you in the short term.
