Appleton

Appleton is the ward covering the north-western stretch of Benfleet towards the Tarpots junction. It's almost entirely residential, built up mostly in the postwar decades with a typical mix of 1950s and 60s semis and some bungalows. There's not much here in terms of shops or amenities, so you're relying on the car to get to Tarpots or down to South Benfleet. Quiet, unremarkable, and that's exactly why families with young children settle here. Jotmans Hall primary school is well regarded locally.
