Proper rural Oxfordshire villages to the north and east of Bicester. Fringford is a small, attractive village that was reputedly the inspiration for Flora Thompson's Lark Rise to Candleford. The Heyfords, Upper and Lower, sit along the Cherwell valley and have a charming stone-built character. Lower Heyford has a station on the Oxford to Banbury line, which is useful. These are places where you need a car for everything, village pubs are the social centre, and the pace of life is completely different from Bicester itself. Housing is mostly period stone cottages and some newer additions. They feel properly rural.
