Botley itself is a small suburban strip along the A420 heading west out of Oxford. There's a Waitrose, a few local shops, and the West Way shopping centre which has been through various rounds of redevelopment proposals. Sunningwell is a separate village a couple of miles south, up on higher ground with a medieval church and proper countryside views. Lumping them together is a stretch. Botley's main selling point is being walkable or cyclable into Oxford city centre without paying Oxford city prices. The housing is a mix of 1950s and 60s semis along with some newer infill. Families with kids at Matthew Arnold or one of the local primaries make up a lot of the residents. It works as a practical base but nobody moves here for the atmosphere.
