Ashridge is mostly woodland and National Trust estate rather than a settlement. The houses that exist are scattered along lanes on the fringes of the forest, often large and private. Ashridge House (now a business school) and the Bridgewater Monument are the main landmarks. It is strikingly beautiful in autumn when the beech trees turn. There is nothing in the way of shops, pubs, or community facilities. You would use Berkhamsted or Tring for daily needs. Living here means living in the woods, which suits some people perfectly.
