Bramley is a proper Hampshire village a few miles south of Basingstoke. There's a village green, a pub (The Bramley Inn), a primary school, and a small cluster of shops. The housing is a mix of older cottages in the centre and newer estates on the edges that have expanded the village considerably since the 1980s. Bramley station is on the Reading to Basingstoke line, which is handy if you work in either direction. The surrounding countryside is attractive, with footpaths through farmland. It has a functioning village community with a parish council that actually does things. The trade-off is that daily life requires a car for anything beyond basics.
