Chislehurst is one of the more affluent parts of the borough and has a genuine village centre around the High Street and Royal Parade. Independent shops, a couple of good pubs, and a pond on the common. The Chislehurst Caves are a curious local attraction. Housing is a mix of large Victorian and Edwardian houses, 1930s stock, and some newer infill. Chislehurst station has trains to Charing Cross and Cannon Street. The commons and surrounding woodland give it a leafy, semi-rural feel. It's popular with families who want the village atmosphere without leaving London.
