Gamlingay sits right on the Cambridgeshire-Bedfordshire border, further out from Cambridge than most of the South Cambs villages. It is a proper village with a church, a primary school, a community centre, and a small shop. The housing is a mix of older cottages around the centre and newer estates on the edges. It feels more remote than it actually is. Sandy station is not far for trains to London, and the A1 is accessible, but Cambridge itself is a good 20 minute drive. Families who settle here tend to value the space and the rural feel over convenience.
