Bloomsbury is dominated by UCL, SOAS, Birkbeck, and the British Museum. The garden squares are beautiful but most of the buildings around them are university departments or hotels. Actual residents are a mix of long-term council tenants in the Brunswick Centre and surrounding estates, and wealthy owners in the remaining Georgian houses. Russell Square and Goodge Street tubes give you Piccadilly and Northern lines. It's an odd place to live because it's touristy during the day and eerily quiet at night. The Brunswick Centre has a Waitrose and a cinema, which covers the basics. Lamb's Conduit Street is one of London's best independent shopping streets.
