Gospel Oak has a split personality. The council estates, particularly the Lismore Circus blocks, sit right next to streets of expensive Victorian houses. It's one of the most socially mixed corners of north London and always has been. The Overground station connects to the Gospel Oak to Barking line, which is useful heading east. Hampstead Heath is on the doorstep, Parliament Hill Fields and the Lido are walking distance. The Pineapple pub is a proper local. Families come for the proximity to the Heath and the sense that this is a real, working neighbourhood rather than a manicured enclave.
