Virginia Water is proper Surrey money. The Wentworth estate is here, with its golf club and gated mansions, and the whole area has that manicured, quiet affluence. The village centre on Station Approach has a surprisingly good run of independent shops, delis, and restaurants for somewhere so small. Virginia Water lake and the surrounding Crown Estate woodland are beautiful and give the area a genuine countryside feel despite being inside the M25 catchment. The station gets you to Waterloo in under 50 minutes. Housing ranges from large detached on the private estates to more modest places on the edges, but nothing here is cheap. It draws wealthy families, City commuters, and a fair number of international buyers.
