Eynsford village is genuinely picturesque. The ford across the River Darent, the medieval bridge, the castle ruins, and the flint church make it one of the more photogenic villages in Kent. Housing is a mix of older cottages and period houses in the village centre with some 20th century additions on the edges. The Five Bells and the Plough are proper village pubs, and there is a small shop, but you will need to drive to Swanley or Dartford for a proper supermarket. Eynsford station is walkable from the village and gets you to London Bridge in about half an hour. Families like it for the primary school and the safe, contained feel. It is not cheap for what you get on paper, but people pay for the setting.
