Shoreham is smaller and quieter than Otford, tucked into the Darent Valley with the cross on the hillside above it. Samuel Palmer painted here in the 1820s and the landscape hasn't changed all that much. There's a village shop, a pub, a church, and not a lot else, which is the point. The station is on the same line as Otford but slightly further from London. Housing is a mix of old cottages near the centre and larger houses on the lanes out. It's the sort of place where you need a car for a proper shop but don't mind because the walk out of the front door is into proper countryside. The Darent Valley Path runs right through.
