Faringdon town itself has a pleasant hilltop market square with a decent range of independent shops, a Co-op, a few pubs and cafes. The Folly Tower in its grounds above the town is a local landmark. Housing is a mix of older stone cottages near the centre and newer estates spreading south and east, including some fairly large recent developments. There is no railway station, so it is car or bus for commuting. The bus to Oxford takes about 50 minutes and is not frequent enough for reliable daily commuting. Faringdon Community College is the secondary. It is affordable by Oxfordshire standards, which is honestly the main draw for families priced out of Abingdon or Wantage.
