Watchfield & Shrivenham

Shrivenham is a proper village with a few shops, a pub, and a primary school, all built around a crossroads. Watchfield is smaller and right next to the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, which dominates the local economy and means a noticeable military presence. There has been significant new-build housing in both villages over the past decade, aimed at families. Swindon is closer than Oxford for big shops and the railway. The SN postcode gives a clue that you are right on the Oxfordshire/Wiltshire border and culturally it feels as much Swindon-orbit as it does Oxfordshire.
