Gerrards Cross is the centre of gravity for this part of Buckinghamshire. The common gives it a village feel but the high street is more of a small town, with independent shops, cafes, restaurants, and a Waitrose. The Chiltern line station gets you to Marylebone in about 25 minutes, which is why it's long been popular with City commuters. Housing is predominantly large detached houses on generous plots, with some 1930s semis and a handful of newer developments. It's affluent and it knows it. The Bulstrode Park area to the north is particularly desirable. Good prep schools locally, and grammar schools within reach in Beaconsfield and Aylesbury.
