Chalk is a village that has been absorbed into the eastern edge of Gravesend but still holds onto a bit of its own identity. The church is Norman and there is a proper village green. Housing is a mix of older cottages and 1960s and 70s builds. The HS1 line runs nearby but Chalk itself is not walkable to a station, so you need a car or bus. It borders the marshes towards the Thames, which gives it a more open, rural feel than most of Gravesend.
