Charlton sits between Greenwich and Woolwich and hasn't had the same attention as either. The area around Charlton Road and the football ground is mostly interwar terraces and some ex-council. Charlton station runs to London Bridge and Charing Cross. The main draw is Charlton Park, which is a proper big park with playing fields. It's functional rather than characterful, and most people who live here do so because it's affordable and the transport isn't bad. The Valley (Charlton Athletic's ground) brings some life on match days.
