De Beauvoir Town is a grid of handsome early Victorian terraces between Kingsland Road and the Regent's Canal. It was a planned estate and still has a coherent architectural feel. The streets are quiet, the houses are big by Hackney standards, and it has gentrified thoroughly. You're walking distance from both Dalston and Islington's Upper Street, which means you get the best of both. The De Beauvoir Deli, Towpath Cafe on the canal, and a couple of good pubs anchor the local scene. It has a slightly smug, Farrow & Ball quality that divides opinion, but it is genuinely a nice place to live if you have children and money.
