Hadleigh

The core of Hadleigh village runs along the London Road, with the castle ruins and country park up on the hill to the south. Housing is a mix of 1930s semis, some older cottages near the high street, and postwar estates filling in the gaps. Benfleet station is the go-to for the London commute, about a 10 minute drive or a longish walk downhill. The high street has the basics, a few cafes, a Co-op, hairdressers, but most people drive to Southend or Basildon for a proper shop. The country park is genuinely impressive and well used by families, dog walkers, and runners. It's quiet, settled, and not particularly exciting, which is exactly what most residents want.
