St Michael's covers the western fringe of Hadleigh stretching towards Rayleigh and Daws Heath. It's more spread out and suburban than the Hadleigh core, with a lot of interwar and postwar semis on wide residential streets. Rayleigh or Leigh-on-Sea are the nearest stations rather than Benfleet, which makes the London commute a bit longer. Daws Heath on the northern edge has a slightly more rural, plotland character with some bungalows on larger plots. There's no real centre or high street of its own. Families and older residents dominate, drawn by the quiet streets and proximity to Hadleigh Country Park without the premium of Leigh-on-Sea next door.
