White City is split between the BBC Television Centre (now partly converted to flats, restaurants, and a Soho House), the Westfield shopping centre, and the large White City estate. The estate is one of the biggest social housing developments in west London. The BBC presence has brought some gentrification, with the new residential development around Television Centre attracting a different crowd. White City tube (Central line) and Wood Lane (Circle/Hammersmith & City) are both here. Imperial College's new campus is expanding in the area. The contrast between the estate and the shiny new developments is stark.
