Muswell Hill feels like a small town that happens to be in London. The Broadway is a proper high street with a good mix of independents and chains, plus the Everyman cinema. The streets are hilly, lined with Edwardian semis and terraces that have held their value well. Alexandra Palace is right there, which gives you the park and the views. The big problem is the same as Crouch End: no tube. Buses down to East Finchley or Highgate for the Northern line, or the overground from Alexandra Palace. It's solidly middle class, full of families, and the schools are a major draw. Saturday mornings on the Broadway are pram gridlock.
