The west side of town includes the high street and the more established residential roads climbing up towards Haste Hill. The high street is the heart of Haslemere, with a Waitrose, a decent bookshop, a few cafes, and the Haslemere Museum which is surprisingly good. The housing stock is mostly Edwardian and interwar, with some larger Victorian houses on the roads heading up the hill. It's the more convenient half of town for daily errands. Families tend to gravitate here for the proximity to schools and shops.
