Grayshott feels more Surrey than Hampshire, sitting up on the hill above Hindhead. The village has a surprisingly decent row of shops along Headley Road, including a butcher, a deli, and a small Budgens. It is leafy, quiet, and slightly more affluent than Liphook. The housing is mostly detached houses from the interwar period onwards, set in large gardens along winding lanes. No station of its own, so you drive to Haslemere or Liphook. The National Trust land at Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl are right on the doorstep. Since the Hindhead Tunnel opened it is much less blighted by traffic than it used to be.
