South Heathfield stretches down towards Cross-in-Hand along the A267. There is more modern housing on this side of town, including some newer estates. The Cuckoo Trail is easily accessible from this end, running south towards Horam and eventually Polegate. It is a slightly less convenient walk to the high street than the north side but still manageable. The industrial estate and some of the town's more practical businesses are on this side.
