Swavesey is a compact village off the A14 between Cambridge and St Ives. It has a village college (secondary school), a pub, and a small shop. The housing is a mix of older properties around the centre and newer development. The Guided Busway passes nearby which helps with the Cambridge commute. Swavesey Village College serves the wider area. It's a quiet, self-contained village that hasn't grown as fast as some of its neighbours. The surrounding landscape is flat fenland with big skies.
