Hockley

Hockley village centre is small but functional, with a few independent shops, a Co-op, and a couple of takeaways along Spa Road. The station gives you a direct run into Liverpool Street in about an hour. Housing is mostly 1930s semis and some post-war detached places, many with decent-sized gardens. Hockley Woods is right on the doorstep, which gives the place a rural edge that most of south Essex lacks. It is not exciting, but that is exactly the point for most people who choose it.
