This is the bit around Church Road and George Street that people mean when they just say "Hove". The high street is genuinely good, with independent cafes, delis, a couple of decent pubs, and a Waitrose that functions as a social hub. Housing is a mix of Victorian and Edwardian terraces and mansion flats, with some smaller cottages tucked into the side streets. Hove station gives you a direct Southern service to London Victoria in about an hour and a quarter. It's popular with young families and couples who've outgrown Brighton's nightlife but don't want to leave the coast. The streets between Church Road and the seafront are especially pleasant.
