Colney Heath is a proper village that has managed to keep its identity despite sitting between the A1(M) and the A414. There is a large common with a cricket pitch, a primary school, a pub, and not much else. Housing is a mix of older cottages and post-war semis, with some newer infill. It feels genuinely rural in parts, especially around the common and the lanes heading towards Tyttenhanger. The downside is the road noise if you are on the wrong side, and you need a car for everything beyond the basics. Families like it for the space and the village school.
