St Stephen

St Stephen is technically a parish rather than a place most people would name as where they live. It covers the area south of St Albans city centre towards Park Street, including parts of Bricket Wood. The residential streets closest to St Albans have a suburban feel, with inter-war and post-war housing on quiet roads. Bricket Wood itself has more of a village character, with the common and woods giving it a surprisingly green setting. The Abbey line station at Bricket Wood is handy for Watford Junction. It is the kind of area where people end up rather than actively seek out, but those who settle tend to stay because it is quiet, green, and close enough to St Albans for schools and shops.
