Barrington is a long, linear village stretched along the main street with a famously large village green, one of the biggest in England. It feels properly rural and quiet, with a mix of thatched cottages, period houses, and some newer infill. The Royal Oak pub is the main social hub. There is a well-regarded primary school. You are car-dependent for anything beyond the basics, but it is only about ten minutes to the big supermarkets in Royston and not far from the A10 into Cambridge. Houses here do not come up often and tend to hold their value because of the green and the setting.
