Bassingbourn

Bassingbourn is a decent-sized village with a strong community feel, helped by the fact it has a village college that takes secondary-age children from the surrounding area. The old barracks site on the edge of the village has been partly developed, adding newer housing to what was previously mostly older cottages and some 1960s and 70s builds. There is a pub, a shop, and the Bassingbourn recreation ground. It is practical rather than picturesque, less expensive than some of its neighbours, and popular with families who want the village college on their doorstep.
