Moor Park is one of the most expensive residential pockets in Hertfordshire. The centrepiece is the private Moor Park estate, where large detached houses sit behind gated entrances and the old mansion has become a golf club. Eastbury, to the south, is less rarefied but still comfortably affluent with 1930s semis and detached houses on quiet tree-lined roads. Moor Park station is on the Metropolitan line, so you can be at Baker Street in about 40 minutes, which is the main reason City workers tolerate the prices. There is no high street to speak of. You drive to Northwood or Rickmansworth for your shopping. It is very quiet, very green, and very much a place people move to for space and privacy rather than community life.
