Basildon

Not to be confused with its Essex namesake. Basildon is a tiny rural parish in the North Wessex Downs between Pangbourne and Goring. Scattered houses, a medieval church, and Basildon Park, the National Trust property that draws visitors on weekends. There is no village shop, no pub, no school. You live here because you want countryside and quiet, and you drive to Pangbourne or Reading for everything else.
