Ridgeway

This covers the string of small villages along and around the ancient Ridgeway path south of Chieveley, including Compton, Hampstead Norreys, and the surrounding hamlets. It's deeply rural, proper North Wessex Downs countryside with rolling chalk downland and narrow lanes. Housing is mostly period cottages and farmhouses with some newer infill. The Downs School in Compton is the local secondary. There's no shop or pub in every village, so you pick your nearest one and hope it stays open. Beautiful if you want the quiet life, but not the place if you need anything to happen on your doorstep.
