Penshurst is the anchor here, a postcard village with a medieval manor house, a couple of tea rooms, and a village store that doubles as the social hub. Chiddingstone is one of those National Trust showcase villages, a single row of Tudor houses that tourists visit on summer weekends. Fordcombe sits between the two, quieter and less visited. All three are firmly Weald countryside with rolling farmland and woodland walks in every direction. Property is expensive and rarely comes up. It is the sort of place where you either inherit a house or stretch yourself to buy one because you fell for the setting.
