Polegate Central

The centre of Polegate is functional rather than attractive. There is a small high street with a Co-op, a few takeaways, and the basics. The railway station gives you direct Southern services to Eastbourne, Lewes, and London Victoria, which is the main reason people put up with the rest. Housing is a mix of Victorian cottages near the old village core and a lot of 1960s and 70s estates spreading outward. It does the job if you need affordable housing with a station, but nobody moves here for the atmosphere.
