Emmer Green sits at the top of Caversham, right on the edge of the Chilterns. It has a proper village feel with a small parade of shops, a library, and the recreation ground. Housing is mostly 1930s to 1960s semis and detached houses with decent gardens. Families like it because the schools are solid and you can walk straight out into countryside. The downside is the same as all of north Reading: getting to the station means fighting through Caversham and across the bridge.
